Most pillows are a rectangle of stuffing. They do one job, at one height, and the height is a compromise between how you sleep on your back and how you sleep on your side. Contoured pillows like this one try to stop being a compromise by changing shape across the surface: lower where your head goes, higher where your neck needs filling in, and cut away at the sides where a shoulder has to fit.
The Derila Ergo adds a second idea on top of that. The wings are not only there for your shoulder — they hold the outer edges up, which keeps a side sleeper’s cheek and jaw from being mashed flat into the foam for six hours. If you have ever woken up with a crease across your face, that is the part of the pitch aimed at you.
The core is high-density memory foam, so it responds to body heat and weight and then returns to shape rather than staying flattened. The cover is a breathable knit that unzips and goes in the wash. Everything else — posture, snoring, morning stiffness — is downstream of those two things: where your head sits, and how warm the surface stays.
