Orion is the company behind the Orion Sleep System, a temperature-controlled mattress cover, so its test looks at sleep through temperature first. According to the official product page, a clinical temperature monitor and Orion’s own analysis, which it calls Orion Intelligence, turn one night of data into results the next day.
Orion’s terms of service describe the patch as a single-use sensor that tracks your core body temperature, temperature fluctuations and sleep disruptions over one night. The product page adds that each wake-up is traced against temperature, breathing, movement and heart rate, so you end up with a short, ranked list built from your own night.
That focus is what makes it interesting for a home comfort site. Most of us adjust the thermostat, swap the duvet or open a window on instinct. A test like this puts numbers on the part you can’t see: what your body temperature is doing while you sleep.
The honest framing: this is a wellness test. Orion states in its terms that its products are not medical devices and are not meant to diagnose any condition, which keeps it what it is designed to be, a clear, affordable first look at your nights that you can also bring to a doctor.

Your body is meant to cool down at night. The same review on the thermal environment and sleep, available through the NIH’s PubMed Central, explains that core body temperature drops during the normal sleep phase and that sleep is most likely to happen while it is falling. When a warm room, heavy bedding or your own body works against that drop, lighter sleep and more wake-ups tend to follow.
The room is part of the picture. The Sleep Foundation puts the best bedroom temperature at around 65°F, with most doctors recommending somewhere between 65 and 68°F. A thermostat reading still can’t show you what your own body is doing at 3 a.m., and that is exactly the gap Orion’s test is designed to fill.
If you already know you run warm, the bedroom itself is worth a look as well. Our sleep comfort guide covers the pillow side of that question, and the Derila Ergo review looks at a pillow made for side sleepers who tend to run hot. The Orion test adds the piece that bedding can’t tell you: when, during your own night, temperature and wake-ups line up.

Frequent loud snoring, gasping for air during sleep and daytime sleepiness can be symptoms of sleep apnea, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. If that sounds familiar, talk to your healthcare provider, who may suggest a sleep study. Orion describes its test as a wellness product that is not meant to diagnose sleep disorders, so think of it as a companion to that conversation.

How your body temperature moves overnight and where it works against your sleep.
Temperature, breathing, movement and heart rate side by side, with each wake-up traced to its likely trigger.
The share of your sleep lost because your body struggled to regulate its temperature.
Orion includes a free one-to-one call with an Orion Sleep Advisor, who reads your report before you speak. The product page describes a 30-minute call that walks you through the results line by line, so the numbers come with context.
The call is optional. If you’d rather read the report on your own, Orion says it will simply send it to you.
If you later decide on the Orion Sleep System, the producer says your results pre-configure it to your own temperature profile, so it starts from your data on the first night. The test is a complete purchase on its own, with nothing else to buy.
On its product page, Orion frames the difference like this: a wearable estimates sleep from movement and heart rate and shows weeks of trends in an app, usually with a device and a monthly subscription. The test measures one night with a patch, gives you an answer the next day for a single payment, and puts a person on the call to explain it.
A sleep test is worth it when it is easy to do and leaves you with something you can act on. Here is what stands out in the official material, and what is worth knowing before you buy.

Orion’s terms describe a single-use sensor patch that tracks core body temperature, temperature fluctuations and sleep disruptions over one night. The product page adds that the report traces each wake-up against temperature, breathing, movement and heart rate, and gives you a sleep grade with a short, ranked list of findings.
Orion positions it as a wellness test. Its terms state that its products are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose any condition. If you snore loudly, gasp for air during sleep or feel very sleepy during the day, the NHLBI advises talking to a healthcare provider, who may suggest a sleep study.
Orion says the report arrives the day after your test night. It includes easy-to-read graphics and specific recommendations based on your own data, and a free one-to-one call with an Orion Sleep Advisor is included so someone can walk you through it.
On the side of your ribcage, just below the underarm, on either side, pressed onto clean, dry skin. Orion describes it as a thin adhesive sensor with no wires, designed to stay put through a full night of movement, and says most people forget it is there within a few minutes.
It is a one-time purchase. According to the official page it is one payment, the advisor call is included, and nothing renews. Shipping is free within the United States.
Yes. The official page lets you choose one or two people, and the two-person option was $50 when checked on September 30, 2026. It suits couples who sleep at different temperatures, and Orion’s sample report charts both partners’ temperatures side by side.
Orion offers a full refund if the report does not give you a clear picture of what is disrupting your sleep, as long as you ask within 30 days. You do not need to send the patch back.
Orion lists the test as HSA/FSA eligible through its partner Truemed. A licensed provider reviews a short health survey to confirm eligibility, and the HSA/FSA page on the official site explains each step before you order.
The test works on its own with the free Orion app. If you decide on the Orion Sleep System later, Orion says your results pre-configure it to your own temperature profile, so it starts from your data on the first night.
Final verdict · 4.5 / 5
If you snore loudly or feel very sleepy during the day, start with your doctor. For warm, restless nights, or a partner who sleeps at a different temperature, it is an easy first step with a next-day report and a real person to explain it.
